Owned and operated by Negusse Debela, a coffee entrepreneur with years of hands-on experience running wet mills across the Uraga region of Guji, Raro wet mill has quietly become one of the area’s most compelling operations since its establishment in 2018. Situated to the east of Uraga, a territory that has earned growing recognition for its remarkable cup profiles, Raro benefits from both an exceptional terroir and the deep expertise its owner has accumulated over years of work in the field. Some 674 farmers deliver their hand-picked red cherries to the mill each season, contributing to an annual output of around 800 bags of washed specialty coffee. This year, SNAP Specialty Coffee invested in a significant upgrade, lining the mill’s fermentation tanks with ceramic covers, a refinement that has had a direct and measurable impact on quality, yielding a noticeably cleaner and more vibrant cup in the washed coffees the mill produces.
